Dog That Talks Is Self-Aware, Makes Clear She's Not a Cat
A Talking Dog Named Bunny
If you've been on Tik Tok at all in 2021, there's no way you haven't seen Bunny the talking dog. Trained to use a dog communication board with recordable voice buttons since she was a puppy, the one-year-old sheepadoodle is nearing her hundredth word. She can even combine five or more words to communicate more complex or abstract ideas!
So What About Bunny?
What about bunny, indeed. Well, Bunny is a dog that talks, for starters. This at least we know, but do we know if she knows?
That is, how does Bunny understand her place in our world? Does she understand the concept of different species? What about the concept of individual beings, with their own unique identities? Does she understand who she is? Does she understand what she is?
Not A Cat
These are questions we may not soon know the answers to, but Bunny has made one thing very clear: she is most certainly NOT a cat.
Can Dogs Really Talk?
After seeing this video, that almost sounds like a silly question. Of course they can!
The questions we should be asking now should be around the degree to which their understanding of language is similar to our own. What is truly uniquely human?
So many questions, but one thing is certain: Bunny is not a cat.
